This 5-day safari takes you into Samburu’s rugged north to see rare species found nowhere else in Kenya, then to Ol Pejeta Conservancy for rhino encounters and a visit to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in the country.
Depart Nairobi heading north past Mount Kenya, watching as the landscapes change from fertile farmland to arid, rocky plains. Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive seeking the unique Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.
Spend the day exploring along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants gather to drink and crocodiles bask on sandy banks. Morning and afternoon drives maximize your chances of spotting leopards, lions, and the many bird species found here.
After breakfast, travel to Ol Pejeta, arriving for lunch. An afternoon game drive includes a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary, where rescued chimps are given lifelong care.
A full day in Ol Pejeta means plenty of time to see both black and white rhinos, as well as lions, cheetahs, and other savannah wildlife. Visit the special rhino enclosure that is home to the last two northern white rhinos in the world.
After a final morning drive, return to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.
Based in the coastal paradise of Watamu, we specialize in thrilling blue safaris, exciting game drives, and tailor-made travel experiences.
